James Gary Mullins

James Gary Mullins, was born 14 Aug 1939 to Hesley and Virginia Mullins
(Mosley) in Sassafras, a small town of about 100 population in southeastern Kentucky.
Jim spent his youth roaming the mountains of the area, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. While in high school he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve. A week after graduation he started basic and technical training graduating as an aircraft mechanic. After completion of his training, he was employed by a government contractor for the maintenance of military aircraft. He then spent the next several years of employment traveling over much of the U.S. and the world.
In 1960 he and Gayle Whiteman wed and while the marriage did not last very long, he was fortunate to be blessed with his daughter - Lezle.
A few years later he wed Lynne Yehle. Soon afterwards he was assigned to the Air National Guard unit in Boise, they later moved to Stanley, Idaho where they were blessed with the birth of a son - James, daughter
- Jennifer, and son - Travis. They lived there until 1975 when he took a position as a civilian technician position at the Montana Air National Guard unit in Great Falls, Montana. Jim and Lynne were divorced in 1987; Jim continued employment with the ANG until his retirement in 1999.
In 1997 he and Jeanie Albrecht wed. Upon his retirement, he returned to Custer County and built a home near Challis, Idaho.
He is survived by Jeanie Albrecht (Mullins) - Challis, Idaho, Lezle Mullins Vaughn - Newhall, California, Jennifer Mullins - Grass Range, Montana, and Travis Mullins - Boise, Idaho, brothers Ray Mullins, Dennis Mullins, Steve Mullins, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest near his son and friends in the Stanley cemetery.
Jim was avid rifle shooter and competitor he traveled throughout the western U.S. and Canada competing in Metallic Silhouette rifle competitions where he made many lifelong friends. He was a multiple Montana State Champion in both small-bore and high-power; his proudest achievement was in 1998 winning the Canadian National Championship in White Horse, Yukon.
