Brenton Liston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Ltd. - Dixon on Oct. 21, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Brenton "Brent" John Liston, 38, of Woosung, IL, was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, October 17, 2025. We find comfort in knowing that he was welcomed with a warm embrace in awaited reunion with his mom, Dorie.
Brent was born on December 13, 1986, in Dixon, IL, the son of John and Dorothy "Dorie" (Brunett) Liston. Although he last worked in Maintenance for the Illinois Tollway, he missed his true calling to be a Weatherman. If you wanted to know the forecast, Brent was your guy (and most times, even got it right). He was a huge Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and loved to spend his time watching games with his dad, brother, and cousins. Brent also loved to go camping, snowmobiling, boating, and riding in his golf cart; he did also enjoy golfing, although it might be said that he was better at riding in his golf cart than actually golfing.
If you knew Brent, you also knew his brother and best friend, Nate. Almost "Irish Twins" (13 months apart), the brotherhood these two shared was something to envy; the love & bond between them almost tangible. He cherished not only his brother, but all of his family, especially his nephew, "Benny Boy". He was so proud to wear the badge of honor that was "Uncle". To know Brent was to know someone so giving, caring, and compassionate, almost to a fault. Even if he had nothing himself, he gave whatever he could, to whoever he could, with no expectations in return. To have him in your life was to truly know someone had your back. He will be missed beyond measure.
Brent is survived by his father, John Liston; his brother & best friend, Nate (Jess) Liston; special cousins, Doug MacRunnels, Luke (Jenny Hicks) Liston, Jackie Liston, Jodi (Jason) Miller, Jeromy Miller, Megan (Ben) Ober, Matt Brunett, Drew (Jackie Sanchez) MacRunnels, Kelli (Sam) Riggen, Marc Miller; uncle, Tim Liston; aunts, Cheri (Doug) Stewart, Eunice Rodriguez, Jackie MacRunnels; his very loved and cherished nephew, Bennett "Benny" David Liston; and his special dog, whom he loved beyond measure, "Maxxie Boy".
Brent was preceded in death by his loving mother, Dorie Clouw; step-mom, Tammie Liston; paternal grandparents, Edward & Cecil Liston; maternal grandparents, Dorothy "Dot" & Richard "Dick" Brunett; and his uncle, Rob Brunett.
There will be a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with Pastor Jack M. Briggs, officiating. Following the Service, there will be a Celebration of Brent's Life held at the Elks Page Park in Dixon. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to Brent's family to go towards a memorial bench in his honor.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
