Brett Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2025.
Brett Erik Anderson died on Sept. 10, 2025 in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 74 after a long illness.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Brett will be deeply missed. He was a source of strength and guidance for his family, friends and the many law clients he served over the years.

Brett was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Nov. 19, 1950 to Jerome and Rose (Lee) Anderson. He graduated in 1969 from Edina High School and in 1976 from the University of Vermont, where he met his wife, Frieda.

The couple settled in Elgin, Illinois. Brett worked as an English teacher at Conant High School before graduating from DePaul University College of Law in 1985 and spending more than three decades as an attorney.

He was an avid golfer who always was up for a game of cards or backgammon, enjoyed collecting antiques and took pleasure in good wine, a good book and a night out dancing with Frieda. He had a keen intellect, sly sense of humor and unwavering dedication to family.

Brett is survived by Frieda; sons Zachary (Amelia), Lars (Megan), and Erik Anderson; grandchildren Micah, Henry, Evangeline and Isabel Anderson; brother Scott Anderson and sister Diane Campbell.

A memorial service to celebrate Brett's life will be held on Nov. 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Emmett's Brewing Company, 128 West Main Street, West Dundee, Illinois 60118
