Brett Buchanan Obituary

Brett Buchanan Brett J. Buchanan, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son, passed away at the young age of 46 on July 6, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer. His passing has left a giant void in the hearts of all who knew him. Brett was born to Sheldon and Lynnette Buchanan July 20, 1976, in Richfield. As a kid he had no fear. He was curious to the point he would do things without thinking. He grew up with his brothers and sister herding cattle on the west mountain. He spent the other majority of his time working on the farm with his father and siblings. As a sibling, Brett was kind, generous, compassionate, supportive and loving. When his brothers and sister needed his presence during difficult times, he showed up either in person or on phone calls, sometimes multiple. Brett could make them smile, laugh and cry all within the same hour. Brett married Tana Stewart Sept. 20, 2018, in Capital Reef National Park. They enjoyed going in the outdoors together, jeeping, four-wheeler riding with their family, and watching the twins play football, along with seeing their kids grow up. Brett's true passion was being a provider for his family. He owned and ran three successful businesses in his short time on earth. His businesses included: Triple A Crane Services, Redview Concrete, and Buchanan Development. He is widely known and loved across the state of Utah by many for his compassion, immaculate problem solving and perfect work. When Brett wasn't working you could find him riding his crazy horse, Diggler, helping his dad and brother on the farm, doing maintenance on equipment, "bumming" around backroads, dirt bike riding, or spending time with his beautiful wife, Tana. Brett was in the process of obtaining his pilot license. He would spend any free time he had studying any material he could find to make getting his license easier. He treasured the times he was able to go on flights over various locations in Utah. Brett loved his wife and kids more than anyone could imagine. He loved teaching his kids the values of hard work and life in general. There wasn't a day that went by that the ones around him didn't get some life advice from him. Brett is survived by his wife, Tana Buchanan; Children, Kaden Buchanan, Halee (Trayton) Nielson, Tayven Schear, and Caysen Schear; granddaughter, Blayklee Nielson; parents, Sheldon and Lynnette Buchanan; mother-in-law, Bessie Stewart; siblings, Shelly Reier, and Brock (Kellie) Buchanan; sister-in-law, Jennifer Buchanan; and many nieces and nephews. Brett is preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Buchanan; and father-in-law, Deloy Stewart. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 14, at noon in the Central Valley ward chapel. Friends may call Thursday night, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services.
