Brett Hurt Obituary
Brett faithfully served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with his friends; listening to music, hunting, and fishing. Brett also enjoyed loving and spoiling his pets.
In addition to his father, Brett is preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley Ramsey, John Ramsey, and Hazel Wilhelm; niece and nephew, Kamden Tyree Freeman, and Kayaah Grace Freeman; uncle, Eric Hicks; and great-grand parents, Guy and Inez Wilhelm, and Wesley Overstreet.
Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his mother, Elizabeth Overstreet; stepfather, Wesley Overstreet, Jr., daughters, Beyla and Alena Hurt; brothers, Blake Hurt of Lynchburg, VA; Eli Overstreet (Megan) of Peterstown, WV; Jeremiah Overstreet (Courtney) of Charleston, SC, and Curtis Nelson of Texas; sisters; Allison Overstreet Freeman (Tee) of Narrows, VA, and Toshya Overstreet Francis (Jack) of Bedford, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Kaydence, Karleigh, Kora, McKenna, Jackson, and Kamari; and aunt, Melissa Spencer, and several cousins and close friends.
There will be a funeral service conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel (605 Snidow St. Pembroke, VA). Funeral Services will conclude in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery (5550 Bagging Plant Road Dublin, VA 24084). The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel. A guestbook is available to send condolences by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Hurt family.

The lord has taken his most special soul to be with him for reasons we don't yet understand . I love you Brett. In another life we will meet again. You taught me the phrase "flash in the pan ". This short life here on earth is just that. Souls live for eternity. The memory and warmth of Brett will shine bright and never fade.

I served with Brett in the Army. He was actually my roommate when he first joined the service and later on, after our deployment we were in the same platoon. The news of his passing hurts. He was a good person and a good friend. He will not be forgotten. My condolences to his family during these tough times.

My heart is with Brett's family and children. I will always remember him as a smiling little boy with a sweet disposition. I know his Uncle Eric welcomed him into Heaven with open arms and his spirit will live on here on earth.
