Brett Simpson McCall, 54, of Manti, Utah, passed away on January 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Brett was born on July 24, 1971, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Steven and Sharon McCall.
From a young age, he was driven, disciplined, and drawn to challenge. At 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during Desert Storm in Okinawa, Japan, an experience that shaped his character, sense of duty, and lifelong commitment to service.
Throughout his life, Brett remained deeply connected to endurance and adventure. He completed 26 marathons and later competed in major cycling events, including Salt to Saint and Saint to Sinners, and many others. Brett loved the outdoors, especially rock climbing and exploring rugged terrain in his jeep; this brought him both freedom and joy.
Brett devoted much of his life to serving others through law enforcement. He served as a deputy sheriff with Sanpete County from 1999 to 2008, as Centerfield Chief of Police from 2009 to 2016, and then as Chief of Police for the Gunnison Valley Police Department from 2016 to 2020.
Brett was respected for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication to his community. His work was not just a career; it was a calling he carried with pride.
Those who knew Brett remember him as strong, steady, and deeply loyal. He valued meaningful conversations, time with his loved ones, and valued the relationships he built over the years. His presence left a lasting impression on many.
Brett was a devoted father, grandpa, partner, brother, and son. His love for his children and family was unwavering, and his influence will continue through the values he instilled and the memories they carry.
Brett is survived by his daughter, Makenzie McCall, his son, Ethen McCall, his partner Michelle Francks, his Mother Sharon McCall Mellenthin (Dan), and three brothers, Sean, Troy, and Todd. He is preceded in death by his father, Steven McCall.
A celebration of Brett’s life will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Manti Tabernacle, 95 South Main, Manti, Ut, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation burial will be held in the Manti City Cemetery following services, with Military Honors. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary of Richfield, Salina, & Manti.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to a charity or cause of your choice in honor of Brett.
