Brett Joseph Teichert, 51, passed away after a brief illness on June 13, 2025, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI surrounded by his loving family and friends. Brett was born on April 8, 1974, in Arlington Heights, Illinois to William Teichert and Amy Gilmore. He had one sibling, his beloved brother Benjamin. He resided with his loving wife Jennifer (Popelier) in New Berlin, Wisconsin.
What stood out most about Brett was his charisma. He had a wonderful way of making people feel loved and appreciated. He was so positive and supportive and made you feel so comfortable and at ease, like you and he were old friends.
He loved going to Door County and spent many happy childhood days there at the family cottage, which he always considered his home away from home along with his grandparents' home in Mount Prospect, Illinois.
From an early age and throughout his life Brett was always a musician. He played guitar and was also a singer and songwriter. Brett was known for composing music, his dedication to music was evident in his songs and performances.
Brett's father William taught him and his brother Benjamin painting and drywall, and as a young adult they worked together in Illinois for a number of years. Brett always appreciated that his father taught him these skills that he utilized throughout his life.
Brett was the bar manager at the Rave club in Milwaukee from 2001 to 2004, also during this time he was the talented front man of the band Freak and played many shows in southeastern Wisconsin.
In 2004 he moved to Florida with his girlfriend Jennifer Popelier. They were married in Silver Springs, Florida in 2006. After moving back to Wisconsin in 2011 he started his own company Accomplished Tile and Painting, and in 2023 became a union painter and often worked at the same jobsites with his brother Ben and nephew Chase.
Brett is survived by his wife Jennifer (Popelier), father William Teichert and stepmom Diane (Haase), brother Benjamin Teichert (Tiffany Jordahl), and sister in law Lisa Teichert. Further survived by nieces Paige, Hope, Gracie, Bekah, Ellie and nephews Chase, Alex, Christopher, Mike, Michael, and grand nephews Nikola and Luka. Father and mother in law Lee and Mary Popelier, brother in laws Matthew Popelier (Christina), David Popelier (Andrea), Mark Popelier (Shirley) and sister in law Anel Popelier. Also aunt Nancy (David), cousins Michelle, Nathan and Josh, uncle Gary Rezeau (Marcia) and numerous friends, many considered as family.
Preceded in death by mother Amy Gilmore, uncle Robert Teichert, and aunt Marcia Rezeau.
Besides music, Brett loved spending time with his wife, family, friends and pets (dogs Jack and Charlie and cats Tio and Mia).
His legacy will live on through his music and his family and friends. Brett will be deeply missed and not forgotten. His love, his laughter and his spirit will forever be a part of us.
Visitation to be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue New Berlin, Wisconsin 53151, from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM. Celebration of Life to begin at 4:00 PM. For those who cannot make the Celebration of Life in person, please click on the "Watch Service" button for live streaming.
Following the Celebration of Life, guests are invited to join the family for food and soft drink refreshments at VFW Post 5716, 17980 Beloit Road, New Berlin, WI 53146 until 9:00 PM. Please note the bar only accepts cash.
