Brian Michael Belzung (BONES) , 51, of
Whitehouse, Ohio passed away February 24, 2026. He was born November 23, 1974 in
Toledo, Ohio to Richard and Sara (Stover) Belzung.
Brian (BONES) enjoyed being outdoors and spending time camping, finding peace and joy in nature. He loved music-especially the Grateful Dead-there was rarely a day when a song wasn't playing somewhere nearby.
He was remarkably intelligent, with a curiosity that seemed to have no limits. Whether the topic was history, science, mechanics, philosophy, cooking, nature, or music, Brian could speak about it with depth and insight. He had a rare ability to understand complex ideas and explain them in a way that made sense to everyone. Conversations with him were never shallow-he could discuss almost any subject you could think of, always with thoughtfulness, clarity, and a quiet confidence that came from truly knowing what he was talking about.
Foraging was also a big part of his life. He found joy in walking through the woods with a careful eye, recognizing what others might overlook. It wasn't just about gathering food-it was about patience, knowledge, and connection to the land. He respected nature deeply and took pride in understanding it, knowing where to look, what was safe, and how to use what he found. Those quiet hours searching the forest floor brought him peace and reflected his love for learning and discovery.
More than anything, Brian loved spending time with his family. Whether they were outside exploring, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments meant the world to him. Being a father was one of his greatest joys, and the bond they shared was something he treasured deeply.
Brian was a hard worker who took pride in everything he did. He would give great advice, the kind that was thoughtful, steady, and exactly what you needed to hear. He had a deep, commanding voice that could cut through a room and capture an audience without effort. When he spoke, people listened.
He was also a wonderful cook, able to make something out of nothing with his creativity. No matter what ingredients he had on hand, he could turn them into a meal that brought everyone together.
Brian's sense of humor was unmatched, and his contagious laugh filled the room and lifted the spirits of everyone around him. He had a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Logan Butler, loving companion of over 20 years Katie Butler, father Richard Belzung, brother Daniel Belzung and in-laws Wanda and Donald Butler.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sara Belzung.
A private graveside service will be held at Whitehouse Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home in
Whitehouse, Ohio.
