Brian Coyne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Brian Peter Coyne passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, after a courageous and lengthy illness. He was 70 years old. Born on June 24, 1955, in New York City, Brian's life began with a spark that would grow into a steady light of resilience, faith, and optimism for all who knew him.

Brian lived his life anchored in unwavering faith and guided by a deep sense of hope. A devout Christian, he met life's challenges with grace and quiet strength, always seeking the good, even in the most difficult moments. His ability to find light amid adversity was a defining trait and a source of comfort to many.

His love of learning carried him from Vincentian Institute in Albany, New York, to Siena College in Loudonville, where he pursued knowledge with enthusiasm and curiosity. Brian was a lifelong learner in every sense-believing that each person he encountered had something to teach and every experience held meaning.

Brian leaves behind a family bound by love and lasting memories. He is survived by his brother, Stephen Coyne, and sister-in-law, Tracey, of Canton, Connecticut; his nephews, Tom Coyne and his wife Alyssa, and Steve Coyne, Jr.; and his beloved great-nephew, Thomas (TJ). He is also remembered fondly by a close-knit circle of friends, many formed during his 45 years living in Boston, as well as extended family members and the caregivers who supported him with compassion and dedication in recent years. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Marguerite Coyne, and his brother, Thomas Coyne, Jr.

Brian's legacy is not one of sorrow, but of gratitude and celebration. He reminded us that life is measured not in years, but in moments of connection, kindness, and purpose. Each day was a gift to him-one he met with humility, curiosity, and appreciation.

To know Brian was to know a man of deep character and gentle strength. His laughter lifted spirits, his words brought reassurance, and his presence offered comfort. He inspired others to rise above circumstances, to meet life with courage, and to embrace each day with intention.

As we say goodbye, we honor Brian by carrying forward the love he shared so freely-living fully, loving deeply, and facing the days ahead with hope. Though his earthly journey has ended, Brian's story continues in the lives he touched and the hearts he changed.

Services will be private. A celebration of Brian's life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
