Brian Gunther Darr, age 72, of Horseheads, NY went to be with our Father in Heaven after a courageous battle against cancer on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at home.
He was born March 4, 1953 in Wyandotte, MI, the son of Robert L. Darr and Evelin P. "Penny" (Guenther) Darr.
Brian was happily married to Julie A. Brace on July 1, 2000 after companionship that began on July 4, 1995. They spent 30 memorable, wonderful years together.
Brian retired from Hardinge, Inc. in 2019 where he had been a machine operator. Prior to his time at Hardinge, he had been a shoe cobbler who owned his own shoe repair shop on South Main in Jackson, MI after winning a Michigan Lottery. He relocated to
Corning, NY where he worked many years for the Caruso family at both the Market St. and Arnot Mall Shoe Doctor locations repairing shoes and leather working; followed by being employed at Creative Orthotics and Prosthetics hand crafting custom made shoe orthotics.
He was an avid Harley enthusiast who throughout his riding days was involved with the Loyal Riders Motorcycle Club and Bad Company Motorcycle Club of Michigan, as well as Badlands Motorcycle Club in the Corning area. Brian enjoyed being outdoors cutting fire wood, fishing, camping, sitting by a campfire drinking his beer and listening to music. When he couldn't be outdoors, you would find him either in the garage or on the front porch listening or watching Detroit Redwings hockey, NY Yankees baseball, Buffalo Bills or Detroit Lions football, NASCAR racing or the Old Time Radio show on his Sirius radio.
Brian is survived by his wife, Julie Darr of Horseheads; Children, Nikolas Darr of Horseheads, Chelsea Darr Sanguinetti of Milford, DE, Adam (Amanda) Darr of Litchfiled, MI, Tina Moore of Jonesville, MI; Siblings, Alison (Peter) Kambros of Chicago, IL and Ainsley Darr of Cleveland, Ohio; Grandchildren, Bryson Alexander Darr, Alayna Coburn, Alexa Coburn, Blayke Monroe, Gabriel (Gabe) Vanbuskirk, Brody Vanbuskirk, and Raegan Vanbuskirk; nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins; Brother-in-law Christopher Soroka of Dearborn, MI and Best friend Mark Collmer of Beaver Dams, NY; and his beloved porch companion dog Camo.
