Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acly-Stover Funeral Home - Corning on Nov. 18, 2025.
With shattered hearts and endless love, we share the passing of Douglas J. "Dougie" Lyon, age 25, of
Corning, NY. Douglas left this world on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the people he loved most, which was exactly the way he would have wanted it.
Douglas was born on September 24, 2000, in Elmira, NY, to Ronald J. Lyon and Hope D. Baker. From the moment he arrived, he carried a spark that never faded. If anything, it grew brighter, louder, and more unforgettable with every year. He lived with a big spirit, a sharp tongue, and a loyalty so fierce that once you were his person, you were his person for life. His heart, bold, stubborn, mischievous, and sometimes a little inappropriate, belonged completely to the people and family he loved. Though he lived with disabilities, he lived fully, and he loved fully, and he gave every part of his life everything he had.
Douglas graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in Elmira Heights, NY. During high school, he attended BOCES and worked as a prep cook, a job he genuinely enjoyed and took pride in. Some of his happiest days were spent at Demolition Derbys with his uncle and family, laughing until he could not breathe, teasing everyone relentlessly, and collecting memories louder than any engine on the track.
At home, Douglas could usually be found in front of his Xbox or glued to WWE wrestling. Meeting several of his wrestling heroes in person was a highlight he bragged about proudly and often. He loved collecting knives, hunting for the coolest ones, and showing off each new addition as if it were a trophy. And although the world may remember his foul mouth, his relentless trash talking, and his absolutely unmatched title as the "middle finger king," those who loved him understood exactly what all of that meant. Beneath the fire and sarcasm was humor, loyalty, a huge heart, and a soul that loved deeply and protected fiercely. If Douglas gave you a hard time, it meant he loved you, and everyone in his world knew that well.
Douglas is survived by his mother Hope Baker Share and her wife Jay of Corning "Short Sh*t"; his father Ronald J. Lyon of Lowman; and his siblings Darron Baker and his wife Alisabeth of Florida, Ronald D. Lyon and his wife Hannah of Horseheads, Jolene Freeman and her husband Mark of Florida, Troy Share of Corning, Jeremi Share of Corning, Jonathan Lindsley and his wife Ericka of Elmira, and Austin Lyon of Lowman.
Douglas is survived by his nieces and nephews Jade baker, Hunter baker, Roman Lyon, Denna Ellsworth, Lacey Ellsworth.
He is survived by his paternal grandparents Harold and Mary Milks of Horseheads; his special uncle Justin Baker "Uncle Fuker" of South Carolina who made Douglas laugh every single time he called him.; and his uncle Smiley, He also leaves behind Uncle Nate and Aunt Ginger, whom Douglas permanently referred to as "Uncle Ginger and Aunt Nate," Aunt Becky and Uncle Carl Dorman, Uncle Oren Chilson and his aunts Violet Milks, Michelle Milks, Jennifer Milks, and Phebe Milks.
Douglas leaves behind many cousins he loved deeply, including the ones he did not just love like brothers but claimed as brothers: Ryan (Andrea) Straub, Justin Jay Baker Jr., and Adam Baker, Andy Call. He was a devoted and proud godfather to Julie Call and Enzo Straub. He also shared a special bond with his care coordinator, Christine Sowell, who meant more to him than she may ever realize.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Douglas and Gail Baker and by his godfather Glen Myles, each of whom held a lasting place in his life and heart.
Though Douglas left this world far too soon, he leaves behind memories filled with laughter, stubbornness, fierce love, and a personality that will never be forgotten. His spirit will live on in every story told, every joke repeated, every prank remembered, and in every heart he ever touched.
The family will hold a private service to celebrate Douglas's life, surrounded by those who knew and loved him most. Though it will be an intimate gathering, the memory of his laughter, his bold spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone will be shared and cherished by all who were touched by him. The family thanks everyone for their love, support, and understanding during this difficult time, and asks that you hold Douglas in your hearts as they honor him in the way he would have wanted.
