Brian Dennis Duffy, 67, of Barrington Hills, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 20th at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, T. Dennis and Beatrice McCann Duffy and his sister-in-law Karen Elizabeth Staib. Brother to M, Tom, Karen Mary, Brendan, Dan, Tara and Neil, and brother-in-law to Joanna Moore and Rick Dunn. Uncle to Dasha, Kristina, Vera and Charlie. Great uncle to Weston Kleinke.
A 1976 graduate of Barrington High School, Brian attended Loyola in Chicago and Rome, graduated from Marquette in Milwaukee in 1981, with post-graduate studies at Roosevelt and NIU, and Montana State in Bozeman. A musician who composed daily on the piano he also played saxophone, trombone, banjo and guitar and enjoyed playing with his friends in the band “Deja Who.”
Poet, philosopher, writer, photographer, farmer, pilot, actor, singer, entertainer, Mr. Barrington contestant, cinematographer “The Six Million Dollar Man”, night auditor, mechanic, pastry chef, hiker, sailor, cyclist and backcountry camper, Brian loved people and nature.
He built computers, coded travel reservation systems and taught computer science. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a broadcaster’s voice, he created a popular audio walking tour of the Chicago Loop.
Brian had a great love and loyalty for his cousins and friends. He enjoyed every moment of his life, appreciated every person he met, and was generous, fun and humorous even in the most difficult of times.
Brian is cherished by his family and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Barrington, Illinois from 5 PM to 7 PM. Rosary prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will resume at St. Anne Catholic Church on Friday, January 30 from 9:30 AM until the funeral mass at 10:30 AM.
