Brian Dykstra, age 59, of Zeeland, passed away unexpectedly and entered into God's glory on Friday, May 9, 2025.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Brandon and Carley Dykstra (with Eden and a second grandchild on the way), and Brittany Dykstra and her fiancé Jonathan Tonks; his mother, Connie Dykstra; his siblings and their families: Michelle and Tom Grabill (Molly Grabill, Camden and Ayo Grabill, Mallory Grabill), and Rusty and Lori Dykstra (Ephraim and Isaac); his former wife Kim and Paul Scholten; his in-laws Frank and Sally Visser; and his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Michelle and Kurt Dykema (Zach Dykema, Abby and Simon Bokma, Kaylee Dykema) and Todd and Kristi Visser (Hanna Visser, Gabby Visser and her fiancé Logan Hausler, Jacob Visser, and Josie Visser).
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Garry Dykstra, in 2005.
Brian graduated from Zeeland High School and began his career at Prince Corporation before going on to become a brilliant self-made engineer and launch his own business, Solution Tool. He was deeply involved in his community, serving on the boards of Zeeland BPW and Holiday Haven on the north shore of Lake Macatawa, where he cherished summer days with family and friends.
Brian's life was marked by kindness, integrity, and selflessness. He lived fully and faithfully, centering his life around faith, family, adventure, and hard work. Overflowing with the love of Jesus, Brian bore the fruits of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)-and shared them freely with all who knew him. His legacy is one of humility, generosity, and deep, unwavering care for others.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. in the Family Life Center at First Reformed Church, 125 East Lincoln, Zeeland. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Thursday, May 15, at 4 p.m. in First Reformed Church's sanctuary, followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments. To honor Brian, please wear yellow or other bright colors, as yellow was his favorite.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CranHill Ranch, a Christian camp and retreat center, or CHAMP, an organization providing respite care and support to families facing childhood cancer.
Brian will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love he gave and the life he lived.

The family has my sympathy. Brian was a great guy, generous, and loved life. I was fortunate to be his neighbor for a few years and see how he helped develop his children into the wonderful people that they are today.
