Brian L. Koester, age 50, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at his home under hospice care after a brave fight with cancer. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Living Hope Alliance Church in Huron with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with his family present, will be from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday afternoon. A prayer service and time of sharing will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

Brian Lee Koester was born on January 10, 1974 to parents Albert and Cheryl (Phillips) Koester in Huron. Brian attended Jefferson Elementary School, Huron Middle School, and graduated from Huron High School. He attended Mitchell Vo-Tech. Brian worked as a welder at Trussbuilt and at LSI but his passion was owning his own business, "The Fish Cave" where he sold tropical fish and supplies.
He loved to spend time with family and friends. Motorcycle riding, music concerts, baseball games, gardening, and fishing with his son were some of his many hobbies. He enjoyed collecting unique memorabilia and art. He loved animals of all kinds and will be deeply missed by his pets.
He is survived by his son, Tyson of Huron; his mother, Cheryl Koester of Huron and her forever friend Don Schmidt; his siblings, Albert (Jill) Koester of Williamsburg, Michigan and Michele (Ronnie Lee) Koester of Sisseton; his ex-wife, Stacie Koester of Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert E. Koester; his brother, Michael Koester; grandparents, Edith and Horace Phillips, Doris Devine and Albert Koester; and his aunt Janice Werdin.
