Thomaston – Brian J. Lewis, 71, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital, with his wife and daughter by his side. He was the loving husband of Joyce (Ryan) Lewis for 52 years.
Brian was born in Waterbury on January 8, 1954, son of William Lewis and Lorraine (Byrnes) Cubbelotti. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, and upon returning home, began his family and a long career as a manager at Drawn Metal Tool in Thomaston, where he retired after 47 years of dedicated service.
A lifelong sports fan, Brian bled Yankee pinstripes, lived for Giants Sundays, and cheered for UConn basketball like it was March all year long. For the past 20 years, he found joy and camaraderie on the golf course, serving as a Ranger at Fairview Farm Golf Course. Known for keeping play on pace, he especially cherished his Thursday nights with the Brother-in-Law League.
But above all else, Brian's heart belonged to his family, his greatest pride and joy. He cherished every moment with his beloved wife, Joyce; his daughter, Michelle Jose, and her husband, Jonathan; and found boundless happiness in the laughter and love of his grandchildren, Ryan, Caden, and Delaney Jose.
Brian is also survived by his siblings, William Lewis, and Sallyanne Kinoy and her husband, Daniel, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandparents who raised him, Florence and James Byrnes, and by his siblings, Mark Lewis, Jeffrey Lewis, and Lori Madry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main Street, Thomaston. Please meet directly at church. Please join the family after Mass to pay your condolences and enjoy sharing memories over lunch.
