Brian E. Loftus, a beloved husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan. He was born on January 8, 1951, in Highland Park, Michigan, and throughout his life, he embodied kindness, integrity, and an unwavering love for his family and community.

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in 1974, Brian's commitment to service extended far beyond his academic achievements. After leaving active duty, he joined the Michigan Air National Guard in 1981, where he was promoted to Colonel in 1999. He proudly served until his retirement in 2003, demonstrating a steadfast devotion to his country that shaped much of his identity.

From 1985 to 2012, Brian became a familiar face in the skies as a pilot for FedEx. His passion for flying was only rivaled by his love for his community. A resident of Grosse Ile, MI since 1987, Brian wholeheartedly dedicated his time and energy to bettering the island he cherished. His role as Grosse Ile Township supervisor from 2008 to 2020 was a testament to his civic engagement and community-minded spirit, where he tirelessly worked to improve the lives of those around him.

Brian was a devoted husband to Ann Loftus "Fouche," with whom he shared 45 remarkable years of marriage since September 13, 1980. Together, they navigated life's challenges and celebrated countless joyful moments, always finding strength in one another's company. His dedication to Ann was evident in everything he did, and their bond was a testament to a deep-rooted partnership filled with love and respect.

As a dad, Brian took special pride in his children, Pat (Sarah) Loftus and Katie Loftus, always cheering them on in their life endeavors, offering guidance, and supporting their dreams. His laughter and wisdom were constants in their lives, providing them with a solid foundation to build upon.

Brian's legacy continues through his grandchildren Nathan, Hannah, and Andrew, who brought him immeasurable joy. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will forever echo in their hearts. Whether it was sharing stories or simply being present, he left an indelible mark on their lives, one filled with love and warmth.

A dedicated brother, Brian was part of a close-knit family. He is mourned by his siblings: Larry (late Mary) Loftus, Nancy (Barry) Kaltz, John (Joanne) Loftus, Rick (late Jacquie) Loftus, Linda (Dan) Sheldon, and Kathy (Mike) Arend. Each sibling cherished the bond they shared, and together they navigated the ups and downs of life, supporting one another through every challenge. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his brother Tim Loftus and his parents, Richard and Janette Loftus, who instilled in him the values that shaped his character. Brian also loved his role as uncle and great uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Brian's presence brightened the lives of all who had the fortune to know him. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of his loved ones, reminding them to cherish each moment, to love fiercely, and to support one another unconditionally. As we honor his life, we celebrate a man who gave so much to those around him, leaving a legacy rooted in love, kindness, and cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
