Brian Kevin Martinez, 49, loving son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on November 14, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 2, 1973 to Jose Fermin and Emma Gutierrez Martinez. He grew up in Layton, graduating from Layton High School in 1992 and later on moving to SLC, where he resided until his death.
Brian was an artist who loved to draw. He would often share his art with his family members. He also had a passion for cooking and liked to watch old movies. He had a beautiful smile and always made us laugh. He liked to go skiing and often went with his family. He was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan.
Brian had a love for rock music and attended many local music and arts festivals. He also enjoyed walking downtown to attend the local cultural events.
He is survived by his mother Emma Martinez, his companion, Dale Flinders, his perrito, Sage and his siblings, Cathy Martinez, Jeffrey Martinez, Gina (John) Medina, Shellie (Scott) Deschamps, Kareen (Gerardo) Lomeli and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Fermin; his sister, Dolores (Wilber); Sister-in-law, Linda (Jeffrey); and Grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel St., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, November 26, 2023, vigil from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Rosary at 7:00 pm, Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah. Inurnment will be at a later date.
