Brian Scott Waller, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Scott was born August 8, 1960 at the Great Lakes, Illinois, Naval Hospital, to David and Sharon (Schils) Waller. Scott is survived by his sisters, Lori Waller Worpell (Scott) of McCordsville, IN and Cindy Akers (Gene) of Fortville, IN. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jeffery.

Scott was a gentle, deeply loving, sentimental, and giving man.  He embraced his family, found great joy in being an Uncle while enjoying their activities and witnessing their milestones.  His love for his nieces and nephews, Lindsey (Paige), Brandy (David), Tonya, Brittany (Tony), Morrison (Lindsay), Sharilyn, Benjamin (Madeline), and Hanna was boundless. He too cherished his new role and moniker as “Santa Scott” for those he held dearest, his “Greats“ Camille, Cyrus, Degan, Rivers, A.J., Alex, Eleanor, River, Louie Scott, Emma, and Goldie-Mae; who are growing to an age to really appreciate his appearances as “Santa Scott”.

He was the most dedicated cat dad to his sweet rescued kitties Jedae & Sharona. He had tremendous love for all animals.

Scott excelled at bowling and participated in bowling leagues. He was an enthusiastic lover of music and an avid sports fan. His loyalties lie with teams that represent his home places and extended family, The Baltimore then Indianapolis Colts, The Indianapolis Pacers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago Cubs.

The exemplary military service of his dad, many relatives, along with his time as Marine instilled in him a strong sense of patriotism.

Scott enjoyed cooking and gladly used those skills to feed his fellow Marines, and thereafter for various restaurants. He also worked many years for Hook’s Drugs, Logo 7, and Matthew’s Casket Co.

Scott lovingly took on his most rewarding and admiral job in 2011.     He honored a promise made to his ailing dad to watch over and take care of his mother upon his passing. Whereas Scott became her devoted caregiver and live-in hero for the next 11 years.

Scott was Blessed to be an 18 year survivor of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Scott is grateful for and proud of his ongoing, over 19, years of sobriety. He found fulfillment and strength in the reciprocal support of his AA family and their shared journeys.

In his final months, Scott had accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.  He had a newfound joy and desire to share the gospel with others. Scott was very grateful for the guidance of Pastor Kevin Smigielski, and the compassion and fellowship he experienced as a new attendee at the Gateway Community Church in Fortville, IN.

Family visitation will be held from 12PM-1PM and public visitation will be from 1PM-2PM on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229. The funeral service will begin at 2PM following the visitation.
