Brian Michael Smith, 61 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Friday, September 14, 2018. Born in Alpena on January 12, 1957, Brian was the son of Glenn and Arlene (Skiba) Smith.
In 1975, Brian graduated from St. Mary High School in Gaylord. He had had a strong work ethic and was an avid sports fan. Brian enjoyed family gatherings and working with his nieces and nephews at Arlene’s Diner for many years. Some of his best years were taking care of his parents. Brian was a kind man who truly cared about others.
He is survived by his siblings, Sherri (Larry) DeFouw, Glenn (Jane), Christine (William) Holewinski, William (Catherine), Noreen (Michael) Burzynski, Betsy, Dan (Kim), Pam (Dennis) Zaborowski and Marcella (Charles) May; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Arlene Smith; and a sister, Marykay Sklarczyk.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Brian will be interred with his parents at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Commission on Aging or to Gaylord St. Mary School.
