Brian Wesley Thurston

Brian W. Thurston Sr., a beloved son, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. Born on October 20, 1961, in Indiana, he was the son of Jerry and Betty (nee Camp) Thurston. Brian's journey through life was marked by his passion for technology and his deep love for family, often serving as the go-to person for all things tech-related.
Brian dedicated his professional life to the field of software engineering, where he made his mark as a Senior Software Engineer at Anthem. His expertise and problem-solving skills brought countless innovations to the insurance industry. Beyond his career, he was an avid fan of science fiction, delighting in tales of Marvel superheroes, The Fantastic Four, and the wonders of astronomy.
Many memories were created during the cherished annual Memorial Weekend Family trips, filled with laughter, hiking adventures, and the joy of cabin living. Brian was known for his exceptional grilling skills and his flair for mixology, turning family gatherings into joyous celebrations-much to the delight (and occasional trepidation) of his partner, Teresa, who often found herself as the willing taste tester.
Brian leaves behind a legacy of love and connection. He is survived by his son, Brian W. Thurston Jr.; former wife, dear friend and confidant: Teresa Thurston; her children and his bonus children: Brandy (Brandon Walker) and Cody Woods; and his treasured grandchildren, Joseph W. "Wesley" Black and Jackson Walker. He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Eric (Chris) Thurston, Scott (Amy) Thurston, and Vicky Thurston, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews who adored him.
Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Jerry and Betty (nee Camp) Thurston.
A private Gathering of Friends of Family will happen at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in Brian's memory, honoring the spirit of a man who brought light and joy to those lucky enough to know him. Brian's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
