Bridgette Lynn Merritt Wampler

Ms. Bridgette Lynn Merritt Wampler, age 63, of Ambrose, Georgia passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones following a recent decline in health.
Bridgette was born August 6, 1962, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late Dan Merritt and the late Betty Lou Bostic Merritt. Bridgette was a retired postal carrier, serving for 18 years with the Broxton Post Office. She loved her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her greatest enjoyment and relaxation was found in time spent at the beach.
Bridgette is survived by 4 children: Jerred Wampler of Ambrose, Georgia, Greg Wampler of Ambrose, Georgia, John Wampler (Vivian) of Dublin, Georgia, and Heather Wampler of Ambrose, Georgia; 7 grandchildren: Hayden Wampler, Jaylyn Wampler, Owen Wampler, Gregory Wampler, Allison Wampler, Elliot Wampler, and Aaliyah Wampler;3 siblings, Joe Merritt (Dedra) of Douglas, Georgia, Dana Flanagan (Jackie) of Douglas, Georgia, and Cece Brigmond (Kenneth) of Broxton, Georgia; along with a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Along with her parents, Bridgette is preceded in death by 4 brothers: Fredrick Merritt, Jimmy Darrell Merritt, Michael Merritt and Anthony Merritt.
Bridgette's family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, October 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service honoring Bridgette will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. Interment will follow in Elam Harper Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Blake Flanagan, Tyler Merritt, Hue Beasley, Chad Lee, Brandon Minix, and Mark Sayer.
