Britton Pack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service on Jan. 2, 2026.
Britton Pack, 83, of Mars Hill gently left his earthly body on December 31, 2025, to go to be with Jesus Christ and his beloved wife, Lucille, who departed on April 10, 2025.

In addition to his wife, Britton was predeceased by his parents, Bratchett and Lola Cody Pack, and siblings Gar, George Carl, two infant brothers, and an infant sister. He is survived by his daughter Kathy and her husband John Hill, who cared for Britton until his passing; a son, Brent Lee Pack; grandson Johnathan Hill and wife Kerry, and the highlights of his life, his great grandchildren Gianna and Gauge Hill. Also, a sister Evelyn Arrington, special sister Frances and her husband Ron Hensley, who were so close to Britton and Lucille and have helped Kathy tremendously.

Britton was a lifelong member and deacon of Laurel Chapel Baptist Church. He faithfully served the church and provided for all its upkeep until his health no longer allowed him to do so. One of the most special memories is hearing Britton pray, something he never failed to do – even at night, always kneeling beside his bed before he went to sleep.

Britton was most well-known around Mars Hill for his 30-year plumbing repair business, which he got into after driving a long distance 18 wheeler for 27 years. The reason Britton got in to plumbing at all was because of his grandson Johnathan. When Johnathan was 5 years old and getting ready to start kindergarten, Britton told Kathy she worked too far away from him in Asheville and needed to either get a different job or quit work – neither of which was feasible – so Kathy told Britton he could just quit trucking and go to work for her husband John who ran Hill's Plumbing Contractors, doing plumbing repair. To everyone's surprise, he took her up on it! So, Britton started plumbing and also took Johnathan to school every morning of his elementary school years. After a couple of years, Britton obtained his own plumbing license and started his own business at 50, which he operated for 30 years, only retiring at 80 when Lucille became sick. How fitting it is that his grandson and John's son, Johnathan, is successfully operating the family plumbing business. Britton's mind was mechanically oriented, he understood how things worked, and could work on anything. How we are going to miss his expertise on so many things!

The family wants to express their deepest appreciation for Britton's hospice nurse Paige, who also was the hospice nurse for Lucille, and was also Britton's home health nurse over the summer of 2025. Paige truly made keeping both Britton and Lucille home until their homegoing to Heaven possible. Also, special thanks to great neighbors, Bobby and Denita Chandler.

Flowers are welcomed and appreciated, or memorials can be made to Hospice and Home Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, January 5, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Reverend Marc Penley will officiate. Burial will follow in Shook Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
