Brooke Lynn Carpenter, 18, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at UNC Chapel Hill.
From the day Brooke was born on July 10, 2007, she brought light into this world with her very first breath. In her 18 short but powerful years, she touched more hearts than many do in a lifetime.
Brooke dreamed of becoming a radiologist, a goal driven by her deep desire to help others and make a meaningful difference through her knowledge, dedication, and care. Her dreams were big, and so was her heart. Her family is profoundly grateful for the way she lived—with thoughtfulness, compassion, and an unwavering tendency to put others first.
She was a gentle soul—soft-spoken, calm, and endlessly loving. Brooke adored her siblings, and they adored her. Even through the occasional squabbles, she cherished every one of them. She loved joking and playing with them together or one-on-one and encouraged each of them to be “whoever” or “whatever” they wanted to be.
Brooke also enjoyed keeping the household on track—remembering birthdays, holidays, and seasons—often sharing encouraging words and drawings on the family chalkboards. Though time may feel paused for now, her family knows they will find their way forward together.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Purvis, and her great-grandfather, Gene Strouth Sr.
She is survived by her parents, Clay Carpenter and Sarah Timmerman; her siblings, Eve, Aurora, Amira, Hunter, and Emma; her grandparents, Marylynn Purvis and Ron and Bernadette Timmerman; her great-grandmother, Marjorie Strouth; her fiancé, Zavier Barrett, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Arrangements for the family are entrusted to LaFayette Funeral Home of Fayetteville, NC. On-line condolences may be made at www.lafayettefh.com
