Bruce K. Battel of Mahwah, NJ passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024. Devoted husband of 58 years, beloved father and grandfather. Bruce was a dedicated family man whose love for his family was abundant. His dedication and commitment to his loved ones was evident.
Bruce grew up in Oradell, NJ. He graduated from Norwich University and went on to serve in the US Army as a Captain. After the army, he settled down in various towns in Bergen County to raise his family.
Bruce was a financial advisor for 50 years. He was an extremely hard worker and dedicated provider for his family. Bruce's favorite place was his beach house in Loveladies, Long Beach Island. While there he loved boating, fishing, and swimming in the ocean. Everyone who knew Bruce knew how much he loved golfing. He was a lifelong member of the Hackensack Golf Club and served as vice president for one year.
Bruce's passion for food and appreciation for fine meals inspired him to become a talented chef. His love for cooking and culinary skills brought joy to those around him. He often cooked family meals at holidays and in the summers at LBI. He was fortune enough to travel the world with his wife, family and friends, going beautiful places such as Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, and even Africa! He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Battel, his sister, Elsbeth Battel, his three children, Laurie Yevchak (Robert), Tracy Davidoff (Scott), and Steven Battel (Jennie), as well as seven grandchildren: Kara, Samantha, Spencer, Amanda, Andrew, Kendall, and Gavin.
