Bruce “Buck” Daniel Bland, 75 years old, of Jerome, Idaho, returned to his Heavenly Father Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his home after a very courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Born on December 26, 1950, in Long Beach, California, Buck lived a life defined by dedication, commitment, and willingness to serve. He proudly served for many years as a police officer, beginning his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and retiring from the San Bernardino Police Department. He dedicated his life to protecting and serving his community with integrity and courage. His commitment to doing what was right and standing firm in his values earned him the respect and admiration of both his colleagues and those he served.
During his later years in law enforcement, Buck pursued his lifelong hobby of hot rods and started Empire Motor Sports, a successful business in California specializing in the manufacturing of billet accessories for street rods, sport trucks, and Harleys. He built his business to be one of the nation’s top manufacturers in the field. In 2006, Buck and his family moved to Idaho, where he fell in love with all that Southern Idaho had to offer. Buck and his son Jeff opened another successful business, MVP Coatings, in Twin Falls.
Buck was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was baptized in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, in 1980 and served faithfully in many different callings throughout his life. He is remembered as being a great storyteller during his time as an adult Sunday School teacher.
Buck was best known as being a protector and leaves behind a legacy of service. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Buck is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Genevieve “Patsy” Bland; daughter, Amanda Neighbor and her husband, Aaron, and their children Cash, Jack, and Jeff Neighbor; daughter, Jamie Payne and her husband, Will, and their son Apollo Payne; and the children of his late son, Jeff Bland, Marley and Chase Bland. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Jackie Bland-Olsen.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Bland, in 2012.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 825 East Ave B, Jerome. Burial will conclude at Sunset Memorial Lawn, 2296 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Buck’s memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com.
