Jones-Pearson Funeral Home - Park RapidsBruce Andrew Brooks of Park Rapids, MN, age 57, passed away in Fargo ND on Sept 24th 2025, surrounded by his family.
Bruce was born Sept 25th 1967, to Lowell and Beatrice Brooks, the youngest of 4, Blaine, Sharon, Brenda, and Brian. Bruce grew up in Owatonna, spending most of his time in or around the family station. Playing cards, Pool, throwing Darts, watching his Dad repair vehicles, going Duck Hunting with family and going fishing at the family cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. While in High School, he enjoyed driving around, playing the trumpet in band, being with family and hanging out with his lifelong friends Mike and Chad.
After graduating in 1986 from Owatonna, Bruce briefly attended Minnesota State University - Mankato for a Physiology major but found out that college life wasn't for him. He moved up to Duluth, where he found his lifelong job, working for Fastenal. He started out as a delivery driver in Duluth, eventually working up through the company and moving to WI, and eventually settling in Madison WI. In 2017 he moved to Park Rapids to be with family, and retired from Fastenal in 2018 and became a pivotal role in helping with his Great Nephew Blake.
Bruce was a man of music. Listening to just about every genre, except for country. He absolutely hated these country musicians of today. He was a true fisherman but after a fishing trip with Mike and Mike's Dad, Bruce experienced his first Muskie and he was hooked. The Muskie was the fish he admired the most, but he never turned down an opportunity to get out in the boat or on the ice. He loved to go down to the North end of Long Lake and catch Crappies and Bass in the Spring. Catch and Release was his preferred way of fishing. He loved being outdoors, more in the fall than anything. Grouse hunting, Blackpowder Rifle season, but the Annual Fall fishing/ camping trip on Cass Lake for Muskie's with Mike and Chad is what he truly looked forward to every year.. Gopher Hockey was a must when living in Madison WI because of the rivalry between programs, he loved Vikings Football particularly Paul Allen on the radio, Stargazing, smoking meats on his pellet grill, looking after his puppies: Puppers, Baby Girl and Bentley, and finally just having the biggest heart imaginable for his family. I can't say friends, bcz there were no friends for him, just family.
Cherishing his memory are his Brothers; Blaine (Carol) Brooks of Waseca MN, Brian (Stephanie) Brooks of Austin MN, and Sister: Brenda (David) Sordahl of Park Rapids MN, Aunt Marg, Cousins, nieces, nephews, and a few great nieces & nephews. Lifelong friends Mike Jenson, and Chad (Casie) Tighe.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents: Lowell and Beatrice Brooks, his sister Sharon, his nephew Jonathon Leritz, his great niece Jaslynn Leritz.
A memorial service will be held for Bruce A. Brooks on Saturday November 1st. Visitation starting at 10, service at 11 at Jones-Pearson funeral home 608 Park Ave. S. Park Rapids MN.
