Bruce U. Clarke

Bruce U. Clarke, 77, of Hamburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 16th, 2025, at the Morristown Medical Center.
Born in Morristown to the late Joseph U. and Winifred May (Angerbauer) Clarke, Bruce grew up in Chatham and lived in Morristown and Morris Plains, before settling in Hamburg in 1989. A U.S. Army veteran, Bruce dutifully served his country in Vietnam and Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Bruce attended the County College of Morris where he received his associates degree in accounting after-which he began his long career in hotel management. He managed the Best Western in Morristown, Parsippany Plaza, and the Holiday Inn in Livingston, among others. He also ran a tax filing service on the side. After his retirement from the hospitality industry, Bruce was a circulation supervisor for the Star Ledger and NJ Herald for many years.
Bruce was an avid bowler. He bowled three perfect 300's and almost went professional. He was a fan of horse racing and NY Sports, especially the Mets and Giants. Bruce was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the VFW.
Predeceased by his parents, Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Merrill (Newman) Clarke; sister Dale Chalmers and her husband Duncan; his two nephews and two nieces; and four great nephews and two great nieces.
A memorial service for Bruce will be held on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, 10AM, at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ 07416 followed by a get together at George Inn in Vernon.
