Bruce “Shorty” E. Conrad, 80, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at his home. Funeral services were held at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri, on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Interment in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Memorial donations are suggested to either Caring Hearts of Peculiar or Operation BBQ Relief.
Born and raised in Peculiar, MO, Bruce dedicated his life to his family and community, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. Bruce proudly served as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, where he was not only valued for his dedication and skill but also for the many friendships he forged over the years. A lifelong member of Teamsters Local 41, Bruce embodied the spirit of hard work and camaraderie that defined his career. Beyond his professional contributions, he was a founding member of the Cass County Sheriff's Posse, demonstrating his commitment to public service and community safety.
Bruce's love for his town was reflected in his civic engagement, having served two terms as an Alderman for the City of Peculiar. His love for his community extended into his faith as a member of the Peculiar First Baptist Church, where he found support and fellowship with others who shared his beliefs.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Margaret. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Conrad; his son, Derek Conrad; his cherished granddaughter, Torrie Conrad; and his sister, Christine Stewart. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and the relentless pursuit of joy found in life's simple moments.
