Bruce DeRoma Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sheenan Funeral Home - Dunellen on Mar. 30, 2026.
Bruce Quentin DeRoma, beloved husband, son, brother, Godfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born on September 7, 1953 and was raised in Middlesex, New Jersey where he continued to reside throughout his adult years. He was proud to call Middlesex his lifetime home where he formed many bonds and memories with countless neighbors and friends.

Bruce was a graduate of Middlesex High School's Class of 1971, as well as a graduate of Middlesex County College. He began his career as a locksmith at Grove Lock and Safe before becoming the proud owner of Custom Lock Security for over 30 years. Bruce also worked for Garden State Fireworks for many years, as well.

He was an animal lover, coin collector, pyrotechnician and an avid hang gliding and motorcycle enthusiast. Bruce had an ear for music and loved following his favorite local bands like Off Your Rockers and Cat Nip. One of his fondest adventures was traveling in February with Bob Fox on his 350CC Harley Davidson Sprint to Daytona and back for Daytona's Bike Week. He was also a supporter of many organizations that were important to him and close to his heart.

The borough of Middlesex as well as many other lucky towns were blessed to enjoy his many firework shows at community events throughout his years. He found great joy in supporting communities through his love of creating beautiful firework presentations. His neighbors and friends would always praise his hardwork after each firework show.

Bruce is predeceased by his wife, Jeannie DeRoma; his parents, Francis and Mary DeRoma; his brother, James DeRoma; his mother in laws, Ingrid Braun and Helen Ianiero; his father in law, Clement Ianiero, Sr.; his sister in law Jean Marie Ianiero; and his brother in laws; Michael Heldt and Juan Washington.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ianiero; his Godson Bryan Soletto (Mallorie); his sister in law, Lorraine Heldt; his brother in law, Clement Ianiero, Jr.; his nieces, Catherine Heldt Ebel (Brian), Meredith Heldt, Jennifer Markus(Stephen) and AnneMarie Wernlund (Ryan); his nephew, Matthew Ianiero, Sr.; and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Bruce's legacy lives on in the heart of his wife, Nancy, his treasured cats, Prince, Tiger and Little One, and all that knew and loved him. Bruce will be remembered for his commitment to his family, his reliable work ethic and his love of adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bruce's viewing on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Sheenan Funeral Home from 4 PM to 8 PM, and to his funeral mass on Tuesday, April 7th at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Middlesex at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
