October 30, 1946 - March 14, 2025
Bruce W. Giebel, 78, of Colona, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Mercy One Genesis Silvis Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Quad Cities Honor Flight.
Bruce was born October 30, 1946, in Geneseo, Ill., the son of Don and Betty (Voss) Giebel. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He was in the 9th infantry and wounded in March of 1967. Bruce was a member and chaplain of Colona American Legion Post 1233, a member of La Chateau 40 & 8 in Atkinson, and past commander of Geneseo VFW Post 5083. He worked at National Railway as a crane operator and John Deere. He enjoyed target shooting and participating in the Colona Legion Post 1233 honor guard.
Survivors include his siblings, Linda, Don, Kevin, and Lori. He is also survived by his friends and caregivers Melissa Bystry and Otis Capps.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.
