I am so sad to hear of his passing. An outstanding mentor who became a friend. We met every year at ACVS to catch up at breakfast for several years. He was one of a kind.

As a small animal surgery resident at OSU I never worked directly with Bruce but he took the time to learn my name and always had a kind word or a funny story to share. I will fondly remember him walking the halls in his tan coveralls.

How can I ever forget his endearment of always addressing me as Mrs. Ayars. He did so with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. I looked forward to that salutation and the comments that followed. He wasn´t his professional self but a fun loving guy that I respected beyond what words can adequately express. He loved life.

Bruce was the embodiment of academia, practical knowledge and experience. He had a gift for translating veterinary medical science to clinical medicine and surgery for all students that had the opportunity to work with him. He was a prototype for a veterinary clinician and clinical teacher.

Dr. Hull was one of my favorite clinicians! He was kind and funny and a great teacher. Even though I've never practiced a single day of large animal medicine, I think of him often, and am thankful to have been one of his students.

Bruce was one of a kind. He was a great teacher. He had impact throughout veterinary medicine and the people of Ohio and beyond. Godspeed.
Blessings of comfort to Margaret.
