Bruce Jackson Sr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Baskerville Funeral Home Inc. - Humboldt on Sep. 4, 2024.
Bruce Milton Jackson Sr. (aka Bruce Cole) was born in Humboldt, TN on December 18, 1960, to Elmer DeBerry (deceased) and Peggy Jean Cole Jackson (deceased). He was also lovingly raised by his stepfather, Richard Cole.
Having joined Abundant Life Church several decades ago, from an early age, Bruce aspired to a life guided by spiritual and family values in which he found strength, comfort, and faith. Even after years of twists and turns, his courage and perseverance pushed him to finally find his footing on a path that would align with his spiritual values and goals. But it was his mother Peggy's influence that led him to New Pentecostal Temple Church of the Living God, where he would accompany her every Sunday to listen to Pastor Barbara Shutes. So deeply moved by the wisdom and spiritual guidance in Pastor Shutes' sermons, before his death, Bruce had hoped to officially join New Pentecostal Temple.
Bruce was a devoted father and family man who dedicated his life and work to the happiness of his children, Bruce Jr., Tamisha, Brewston (Lamonte), Lakendra, Tyesha, Shacarra as well as the godchildren he treated as his own: Quinn, Cleon, Dexter, Telisa and Leticia. His gentle soul and empathetic heart of gold were a testament to his gift for making everyone feel welcomed, loved and respected as he often treated people as kin and showed them unconditional love. A master of the highway, Bruce spent more than 30 years working in production as well as logistics and transportation, spending years on the open road for Jackson Saw & Tool from approximately 1998 until 2016. From 2016 until shortly before his death, Bruce continued working tirelessly in the saw manufacturing industry at Superior Saw Company alongside El wood Sellars, a friend and compassionate boss, with whom Bruce shared many a laugh.
Bruce was quick-witted and loved to make people laugh. He could find humor in anything and didn't mind sharing a joke. In his free time, he enjoyed gathering with his buddies (Dog, Johnnie, Willie C., & Black) and laughing about who was the best at dominoes, so he leaves in memory his special buddies that he loved to whip after some good-natured smack-talk. When he wasn't playing dominos, you could find him laid back watching The Cowboys, Sanford & Son, In the Heat of the Night, Martin, Wells Fargo, The Beverly Hillbillies, The First 48 or listening to The Canton Spirituals ("I Found Me a Choir That'll Let Me Sang"), The Mississippi Mass Choir, Johnnie Taylor, Tyrone Davis, 2 Pac, and 50 Cent.
Bruce is lovingly remembered by his children whom he raised with Theresia Jones: Dr. Bruce Milton Jackson Jr., Tamisha Trenice Hobson Cole, Brewston Lamonte Cole (Desiree), Lakendra Danyell Bond, (John); with Sophia Long: Shacarra Mathis, and with Queca Rice: Tyesha Cole; his godchildren: Quinchita Webb (Bruce), Telisa Perry, and Telicia Perry; his grandchildren, Tyler, Kingston, Bailey, Kendreona, Areon, Paris, and Col ton; two daughter-like nieces: Crystal Pankey (James) and Kimberly Johnson Boykin; his longtime special friend, Deloris ("Lois") Donald. Also remaining to cherish his memory are his sisters: Robbin Cox, Patricia Chatman (Willie), Mary Johnson (Larry), and Margaret Karamoka (Yaya), Janice Morris (John); brothers: Timothy Cole, Dwight Ferguson aka Peter Pan, Avery Mathis; brother-like figures: Elijah Epperson, Johnnie Cole, Willie C. Williams, and Anthony (Dog) McCurry; a brother-in-law who was more like a brother, Larry Johnson Sr. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Richard Cole Jr., Charles Cole, Johnny Cole, Floyd Cole, and Welton Johnson; 2 sisters: Lisa Cole and Margaret Nell DeBerry; a brother-in-law: Howard Cox. Bruce will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
