MARCEL CALVIN JACKSON SR

Marcel Calvin Jackson, Sr. peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the age of 78. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Marcel was a 1959 graduate of George Washington Carver High School and a retired employee of Avondale Shipyard. He was formerly employed with Poole Offshore Company. Marcel was a faithful member of Second Highway Baptist Church. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. Beloved husband for over 34 years to Thelma Trudeaux-Drake. Loving father of Michelle Jackson, Marcel Calvin (Zalema) Jackson, Jr., and Maleka Jackson (Eric) Beal. Devoted stepfather of Schuntel Drake (Edward) Turner, Keacha Lee “Bunny” Drake, and Robert Lee (Kristin) Drake, Jr. Son of the late George Clifford Jackson, Sr. and Miriam Francis Brooks-Jackson. Brother of George Clifford Jackson, Jr., Herbert Noah Jackson, and the late Ralph Otis Jackson, Sr. Brother -in-law of Denise Jackson, Glorita Parker, Marion Jackson, and Ava Trudeaux (Ladell) Maples. Marcel shared a special bond with his granddaughter, Jasmine (Bruce) Wright, whom he affectionately called “My Rock “. Also cherishing his memories are 14 additional grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Highway Baptist Church, Amazon Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Second Highway Baptist Church, 1533 Haydel Drive, Marrero, LA on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Joseph Johnson, officiating.
