Bruce Jorgenson

Bruce M. Jorgenson was born March 15, 1931 to Peter W. and Gladys (Herbison) Jorgenson at Rugby, ND. He died peacefully at home in Casselton, ND on September 21, 2024.
Summers were spent at the Jorgenson ranch/farm Towner, ND. His Grandpa and Aunts Emma and Mabel pioneering roots played a large influence in his life on the importance of work, reading, agronomy and family pride for 93 years.
Dad graduated the class of 1948 McCluskey ND and North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) in Agronomy. He was a member of the Casselton United Methodist Church, Alpha Gamma Rho, ROTC, Masons and US Army. After college he worked for Farmers Home Administration with stops in Crosby, Washburn and Ellendale ND. ACCO corn seed sales brought the family to Casselton and then Loegering Mfg. which led to a career in over the road trucking with Holland Enterprises. After retirement he enjoyed the planting and harvest seasons at Nelson Farms, Amenia, ND.
His Grandpa always had 3-4 newspaper subscriptions and magazines at the ranch teaching the importance for news and knowledge. He would tell how school became boring as he ran out of things to read. He was still reading publications cover to cover till his passing. After high school he wanted to join the Marines, however, his father said no you are going to college.
After retirement he enjoyed visiting and the afternoon coffee group fellowship. Long and detailed stories were from his life experiences. Reading, listening to polka music or watching Lawerance Welk and documentaries were favorites.
Bruce married Gladys Jorgensen on June 21, 1953. They met their freshmen year in high school and the crush lasted 70 plus years. Mom entered Bethany Homes in April 2020. With the start of covid a Romeo & Juliet story began with Dad standing out in the parking lot and Mom looking out the 2nd floor window talking by phone daily in rain, snow or shine.
He was preceded in death by wife Gladys and son Willie, parents, sister Donna Buresch, brother William C. Jorgenson. Mom's parents Albert & Clara Jorgensen, brother and sister in-laws Charles & Wanda Jorgensen, Norman & Shirley Jorgensen, Albert Jr. & Patsy Jorgensen, Edward & Evelyn Prince.
Survivors include sons Karl (Christi) Elk River, MN, Brian (Paulette), Bismarck, ND. Grandchildren Karlee (Vincent) Bertuccio, Cody (Karrie), Katleyn (Tom) Meaney, Lexi & Maddie Jorgenson. Great Grandchildren Harper & Mia Bertuccio, Kinley & Camden Jorgenson. His sister Marlys and sister in-law Phyllis. Nephews' and nieces.
The family would like to thank neighbors Kristin and Leigha Scott, Roger and Rodney Nelson family, Fargo VA medical staff, ETHOS nurses, housekeepers and Wheels on Meals. Everyone was an extended family to him.
Funeral: Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 2 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, Casselton with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Casselton Cemetery.
