Bruce MacDonald Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.
Bruce MacDonald passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026 at the young age of 89. "Mac" was born November 10, 1936 in Sidney, NY. to Clearance and Doris MacDonald. Which coincidentally is the same day as the Marine Corp birthday. He was very proud of that fact as a Marine, and never let you forget it. Most of his time was served in Japan.

He was a graduate of Ithaca college and the University of Florida. He taught health at Liverpool High School for over 30 years and coached wrestling. There were many students through the years who expressed their appreciation for not just his teaching, but also his guidance and compassion for life. He was an avid successful hunter, trapper and fisherman. He talked about and thoroughly enjoyed his "annual" spring trips to Fairhaven with many friends he treasured... honestly, we think they played cards and ate more than they fished. He also was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Hobbies would include wood working of sorts even though his loving wife Vonnie had a sign that said "Bob Villa doesn't live here".

He is survived by his sister, Linda MacDonald and his loving children; Scott MacDonald, Sue K. MacDonald and Tammy Houde. He also leaves behind a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he cherished.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mac's name to the Wounded Warrior's project.

A private celebration of life with military honors will be held for Bruce.

Though he displayed a proud tough exterior most of his life, weeks prior to his passing he surrendered to Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. So, we celebrate that decision and his life knowing he's in heaven. Dad you are missed but we will see you again. Semper Fi.
