Bruce Edward Mackey went to his heavenly home on May 7, 2025, he was reunited with his wife Virginia and all his loved ones he missed so much.
Bruce is preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his parents Virgil and Ruth, brother Ernest and sister Mildred.
Bruce was born October 30, 1929, to Virgil T and Ruth Mackey in Marshfield, MO. He was united in marriage to Virginia Ann Harter on May 2, 1953. Bruce and Virginia had three daughters; Barbara Nagle and her husband Mike of Republic, MO. ; Jeannie Mackey of Springfield, MO. ; and Shelly Hutchison and her husband John of Springfield, MO.
Bruce had three grandchildren Nathanial Tennis (Mandy); Lauren Routh (Matt) and Zac Tennis. He had three great grandchildren from his granddaughter Lauren, Emilia, Harrison and Adeline.
Bruce and Virginia lived in Billings, MO., Bruce enjoyed farming and gardening and was faithfully involved in St. Joseph's Catholic Church as well as the Kitchen serving the needy. He enjoyed helping others with Virginia for many years.
After Virginia's passing Bruce eventually found a new home at the Fremont Assisted Living. His first friend was Gaylyn the activities director, he helped with every activity and always made sure when doing crafts that he made 3 of each for his girls. The community there along with the nurses and staff loved Bruce, he was so kind and always willing to help others, Bruce ate breakfast with his neighbor and friend Mr. Cobb each day.
During his life Bruce loved music, he always asked to "put that good music on" the minute he got in the car. He loved to laugh, loved family dinners and loved being with all his family. Above all, Bruce loved his 3 girls.
Bruce instilled in the loved ones left behind the value of caring for others and the importance of family.
In his final days Bruce was surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren, and family who never left his side. He will always be loved and missed.
The family give special thanks to Bruce's niece Trish McElwee, The Fremont Assisted Living nurses and staff, and to his hospice nurses Alison, Amy, Abbey and Sarah, the love and care for him and support to the family will never be forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Billings. Bruce will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery with full military honors.
