Sharon "Vulgamott" Mackey

Sharon (Vulgamott) Mackey, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025.

She was born October 4, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Kenneth and Nadine (Lewellen) Vulgamott. Sharon earned her bachelor's degree from William Jewell College, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.

On August 1, 1964, Sharon married Robert Wesley "Bob" Mackey. He survives of the home.

Sharon taught at Central High School for 23 years.

She was a longtime member of Ashland United Methodist Church.

Sharon enjoyed giving back to her community and was actively involved in the KM PEO Sisterhood, where she was past president and a Golden Girl for 50 years of membership, the Runcie Club, Questers Club, Mahjong Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Retired Teachers sorority; and past president of Faculty Wives of Missouri Western State University.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bob; daughter, Allison Stewart (Todd); grandchildren, Carson (Anna Huntsman) and Sofie (Nash Gagliano); other extended family and friends.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 10, Ashland United Methodist Church. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Ashland United Methodist Church, Sisters of Solace, or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
