Bruce McMurtrie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Uht Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Nov. 29, 2025.
Bruce Currie McMurtrie, a cherished pillar of his community and a beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, in Wayne, Michigan. Born on February 12, 1937, Bruce's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and an ever-positive spirit.
The son of the late Duncan and Wilhelmina McMurtrie, Bruce was a devoted husband to his late wife, Joan McMurtrie. Together, they built a family founded on strong values and unwavering support. Bruce was a loving father to Valerie, Doug, the late Vicki Thomas with son-in-law Glenn Thomas, and Duncan McMurtrie. He instilled in them the virtues of gratitude and joy for life's simple pleasures. His legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren, Heather, Kevin (Faith), Jason (Adria), Kelly (Robert), Christie, Shannon (Andrew), and his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mason, Micah, Henry, Jane, Patrick, Kegan, Adam, Kristopher, Faith, and Skylar. Bruce also had the joy of becoming a great-great-grandfather to Yasmine, a role he embraced with the same warmth and affection that had always been his hallmark. He was also a loving uncle to Doreen McMurtrie and Russ (Sue) Kiehl.
Professionally, Bruce dedicated many years of his life to Ford Automotive as a Tool and Die Maker. His meticulous departmental coordination and innovative spirit contributed to the company's success and earned him the respect of his colleagues. Bruce's involvement with the Elks Club allowed him to extend his passion for camaraderie, as he regularly engaged in card games and social events that further solidified his role as a friend to all.
Bruce's zest for life was evident in his hobbies. He found solace and happiness in doing yard work, taking pride in his ability to nurture and cultivate the beauty of nature around his home. His love for working on cars was not just a pastime but a reflection of his meticulous nature and a symbol of the care he took in all aspects of his life.
To say Bruce was kind, loving, and friendly would only skim the surface of the profound impact he had on those around him. He was described by many as having a thankful heart, always expressing gratitude for every moment. His upbeat and positive demeanor was contagious, bringing light to even the most ordinary of days. Bruce was the epitome of a hard worker, ensuring he always provided for his family and setting an example of diligence and perseverance.
Bruce Currie McMurtrie lived a life rich in relationships and love. His absence will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Yet, his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind, urging them to live with the same gratitude and joy that he so effortlessly personified. Bruce's memory will be cherished, and his lessons of love and kindness will endure for generations to come.
