Amesbury, MA – Bruce William Montross, age 75, of Amesbury, MA, passed away on Nov. 27, 2025 at Portsmouth Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Auburn NY on January 13, 1950, son of the late Floyd W Montross & Marlea (Burtless) Montross. He attended Auburn Community College and SUNY Cortland, majoring in Business and English. He started working retail while he was attending college. After college he worked retail in Auburn doing various positions to become a Store Manager for Ames Department Stores for over 40 years, working in various stores and states. He was a dedicated employee and a great example to those he trained in his managerial position. To this day his family hears how much of an impact he made on their lives.
As child he was an avid fan of rock music collecting hundred of albums over the years. He was a member of a band in his younger years and loved to travel he made to Woodstock. Being a New York native, he followed the New York teams, especially the NY Knicks, but he was also a fan of the NE Patriots. He also enjoyed Indy Car Racing. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tanya & Robert Piche, of Seabrook, NH and their children Christopher and Kyra. And his son, Bruce Montross of MA; and his two children. As well as his two sisters and a brother-in-laws, Debbie & Rick Mahon of TX and Pat and her late husband Ted Zorick of NY; also several nieces, nephews & cousins that he adored.
SERVICES – There will be two celebrations of life. One in MA there will be more details to come. There will also be a springtime gathering in NY. The family has set up a GoFundMe https://gofund.me/1adddb33d. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.StJude.org. Arrangements in care of the J.
