Bruce Rivers

Bruce “Macky” G. Rivers, 57 of Island Pond passed away in Newport on January 1, 2010, after a long illness. He was born on May 25, 1952 in Newport a son of Edward and Ethel (Samson) Rivers. Bruce enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at the family camp. He was a marine, and proud of it, and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member and past commander of both the Island Pond American Legion Post 80 and Newport Alfred Pepin Post 798. Macky was a triplet and is survived by his mother, his brothers: Maynard Rivers and his wife Pam of East Brighton, Robert Rivers and his wife Rita of Island Pond, Gary Rivers and his wife Sheryl of NH, and a sister Lorraine Verge and her husband Ed Verge of Island Pond and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased a brother Steve in 2000 and by a niece Terry Glasson in 1980. His father Edward Rivers died January 2, 2010. Funeral services for Bruce and his father Edward will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at the First Congregational Church in Island Pond with the Rev. Alan Magoon officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Wednesday January 6, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the funeral. Spring interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond with full military honors.
