Coral Bruce Scott / Fire Chief
September 16, 1933 to December 24, 2025.
Resident of Scotts Valley
Coral Bruce Scott a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a renowned Fire Chief, passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home in
Scotts Valley, Ca. surrounded by his family at the age of 92.
He was born in
Eureka, Ca. to Bruce and Olive Scott. He had very humble beginnings with his parents who instilled in him a very hard work ethic. Bruce's dad worked in the lumber mills in Humboldt County all his life while his mother stayed home raising Coral Bruce Scott. He remembers fondly tending to the family's Victory Garden which many Americans had during WWII. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
In 1967 he married the love of his life Francine Scott in
Eureka, Ca. at which time he was a Lieutenant for the Humboldt Fire District. In 1971 the family moved to
Scotts Valley, Ca. Where he served with distinction as the first paid Fire Chief for the Scotts Valley Fire District transforming the Scotts Valley Fire District into a paid Department supplemented by many volunteer personnel. Fire Chief Scott retired from the Scotts Valley Fire District in 1991.
His commitment to protecting our communities extended well beyond his retirement. Chief Scott served as interim Chief for both Central Fire and Aptos La Selva sharing his wealth and knowledge and leadership experience. Returning to Scotts Valley in the late 1990's for an interim period. Chief Scott was widely revered in the state for his knowledge of Fire District Laws and budgeting.
He lived a large full life of devotion to his family. He golfed until he was 89 years old and enjoyed wood working in his garage for a number of years in retirement. He was a devoted member of the Scotts Valley Lions Club.
Beyond his professional achievements, Coral Bruce Scott (Popi) will be remembered for his gentle spirit and deep love he had for his family. He was an incredible loving Father, Grandfather, and overall an amazing human being of strength and courage. Bruce Scott leaves a legacy of love, and family memories that continue to shine brightly. Bruce's family was the heart of his life placing his family above all else.
Coral Bruce Scott is predeceased by his wife Francine Scott, and his three sons: Mike Scott, Daryl Scott and Shawn Scott.
Coral Bruce Scott is survived by his loving family, Daughter Sheri Schaal, Sons Mike Pasquini, Gary Pasquini (Barbara), his grandson's Jackson Pasquini, Jason Scott, Josh Scott, Daryl Scott and his loving granddaughters Brittany Johnson (Wes), Maddison Pasquini, Peggy Pavlina (Scott) and Shaina Scott and his five great grandchildren Parker, Whalen, Nash, Mason and Kayden.
Friends may pay their respects on Saturday, January 24 where Coral Bruce Scott will be laid to rest at 12 noon at his grave site at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean St. Extension,
