Bruce Anthony Smith was born December 29, 1957, in Moline, the son of Edward L. and Antoinette “Toni” Marie (DePoorter) Smith. He married Julie Rowe, and from their marriage came Bruce’s pride and joy, his children, Jenny and Mark. Though their marriage ended, they remained good friends. He later married the love of his life, Judith Meyers, who passed away in 2018.

Bruce was a self-taught and hardworking man who became a skilled overhead crane and heavy equipment operator, spending most of his career at IPSCO Steel in Muscatine, Iowa. He was known for his ability to fix or build just about anything, enjoying woodworking and welding in his free time. He also had a special talent for smoking meat and grilling out.

He treasured time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and shared a close bond with his siblings. His loyal dog, Paco, was a constant and loving companion.

Bruce is survived by his children, Jenny (Eric) Fisk of Moline, and Mark (Jennifer) Smith of Davenport; grandchildren, Austin and Breann Smith; siblings, Thomas (Peggy) Smith of Milan, Brian (Missy) Smith of Rock Island, Tracy (Valerie) Smith of Rock Island, and Susan (James) Vols of Ankeny, Iowa; sister-in-law, Rhonda Smith of Milan; nieces and nephews, Shawn Smith, Lyndee Smith, Erica Smith, Marty Matherly, Michael Matherly, Josh Smith, Lacy Kane, Kyle Vols, and Kevin Vols, and their families; his loving dog, Paco; and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Smith; his ex-wife, Julie Rowe; brothers, Blair Smith and Stevie Smith; and nephew, Aaron Smith.

The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
