Bruce Speight Taylor, Sr., 53, of Merry Hill, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 in Greenville. Born August 10, 1971 in Chowan County, he was the son of Ida Overton Taylor and the late Bruce White Taylor. Bruce worked as a logger for most of his life. He was a member of the Perrytown Assembly of God Church in Bertie County. Mr. Taylor enjoyed fishing and was an avid baseball fan, playing often in his youth.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Taylor; three children, Morgan (Eli) Taylor, Bruce Speight Taylor, Jr., and Aspen Ward; two sisters, Sharon Godfrey and her husband, C.L., Angie Tipton and her husband, Charlie; two brothers, Doug Cobb and his wife, Cathy, and Tony Cobb, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, with Pastor Ben Bunch officiating. Interment will be private. Condolences may be made by via the Online Guestbook, below.
