On June 12, 1960, in Shirley, MA, a compassionate and humble soul was born to James and Doris Walton. Bruce Walton, a beacon of unwavering loyalty, was a pillar within his family and community. Bruce was a gentle giant with a heart of gold; his genuine love for his family was reflected in all he did. His spirit was marked by a remarkable humility that did not need to be loud to make a difference. Bruce's life was a testament to Proverbs 18:24, "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." He was that friend, that brother, who stuck closer than anyone else. Bruce was baptized by the late Rev. N.W. Bacon Jr. at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church on August 12, 1973.
Bruce spent his early years in various locations due to his father's military service, including Ft. Devens, MA, Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium; Phoenix City, AL; and Columbus, GA. His life was a beautiful tapestry woven with experiences from across the globe. A graduate of LBJ High School in Austin, Texas, in 1979, Bruce was a quiet yet influential force. His steadfast nature allowed him to form lifelong friendships with James Cross and Steve Bolden, bonds that sustained through time. A sports enthusiast, Bruce's love for basketball and football was only rivaled by his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys. He also found joy in life's simple pleasures, such as dining out with his loved ones and friends.
Bruce's life was a living testament to love and commitment to his family. He cared for his parents and younger brother with tender devotion until their passing, demonstrating the depth of his affection. He leaves behind a loving family, including his brothers Morris (Avis Regina) and Ronnie Walton; his sister Elaine Walton Mckinney; his aunts Sylvia Lockett Dixon (Kermit) and Elizabeth Lockett; his nieces Natasha Gould (Lorenzo), Antonette Walton, MeShay McKinney, Monique McKinney; and his nephews Morris Walton Jr. (LaTasha), Michael McKinney Jr., and Ryan Walton along with three great-nephews, three great-nieces, and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris Walton, and his brother Anthony Walton.
