Bruce Yurth Obituary

Bruce C. Yurth, 80, of Fort Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025 at his home.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1944 in Fort Madison, to Martin and Wilma Coleman Yurth. He married Geraldine "Gerri" Weldon on Oct. 12, 1973 in Biggsville, Ill. He was an electrician at Fruehauf for 28 years and retired from Wabash as the supervisor of maintenance.

He enjoyed playing golf when he was younger and hanging out at the Fort Colony restaurant with his coffee buddies to gossip. He loved all animals, especially his dog, Lexi, and liked to feed birds and squirrels at his home.

Bruce is survived by nine children: Mandy Wells of Fort Madison, Bill (Linda Doss) Merschbrock of Fort Madison, Lori (Brian) Wilbert of Donnellson, Michelle (Bill) White of West Point, Tami (John) Gaines of Burlington, Stacy (Mike) Willits of Savannah, Ga., Chris Estel of Riverside, Calif., Charlie (Elizabeth) Weldon of Texas and Angela Thomason of Blandinsville, Ill.; 14 grandchildren: Daniel, Matthew, Shelby, Ryan, Casi, Jami, Corwyn, Chance, Amanda, Michael, Teresa, Jason, Josh and Scott; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Patty (Mark) Battenburg of Hendersonville, N.C. and one brother, Stanley (Miriam) Yurth of Hendersonville, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Bruce Yurth Jr; one grandson, Brandon and one sister Kathy Mitacek.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. No services are planned at this time. Online condolences to the Yurth family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
