Bruna Vari

Bruna Vari passed away on June 28th 2025 at her home surrounded by family. She was 93 years old. Bruna Vari was born on April 29 1932 in Parma, Italy. She is the daughter of Luigi and Maria Calzi.

Bruna Vari was a teacher and worked at Saint Teresa's Parochial school in Sunnyside, Queens and PS70 in Astoria, Queens. She was also honored to have Geraldine Ferraro, Former Vice Presidential Nominee and U.S. Congresswoman to speak at the school.

Survivors include her son Bruce and Diane Platt of Marlboro, Susan Vari and Seymour Zimbalist from Syosset. Grandchildren Joseph Vari and Ashley Vari, Michael Vari and Megan Reilly, Caroline Zimbalist and Ryan Stewart, Peter Zimbalist, great grandchildren Isabella Vari, and Avery Vari. Joe, Joanne, Peter and Lucas Borini.

She is predeceased by her husband Aldo, who was a Korean War Navy Veteran, her sister Bianca Borini and spouse Mario Borini.

Bruna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her faith was a gift she treasured deeply. She loved to read books, write and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a kind and generous woman whose family was always at the center of her life. She loved being surrounded by friends and sharing stories from her adventures.

Funeral services will take place: Wednesday, July 2nd 10:30am Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church 1209 Route 9W Marlboro, New York 12542

Burial will follow service. Lunch will follow after burial at La Casa Vicina 1015 Little Britain Road New Windsor, New York 12553.
