Blanch Vandermark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. on Jan. 30, 2026.
Blanch Rachel Vandermark passed away on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Hospital at the age of 78. She was born on December 19th, 1947, in Highland, NY to Walter Vandermark and Ester Sutton. She was the youngest of 8 children. She is survived by her niece, Darleen Dahdal which she had always considered as her younger sister. She was predeceased by all her siblings: Isabelle Brown (Frederick), Helen Martorano (Salvatore), Katerine Williams (Donald Williams, companion Joseph Baxter), Marie Monfort (Albert Baxter, Vinnie Monfort), Viola Williams (Ralph), Marion Klein (William, companion Charles Buckley) and Walter Vandermark (Barbara).

Blanch was employed at Schatz Federal Bearing in Poughkeepsie for many years until her retirement.

Blanch loved nothing more than to donate to those who were less fortunate, especially to children during the holiday season. Coming from a large family, Blanch had been blessed with many nieces and nephews that she had loved as if they were her own. She was the aunt that everyone went to when they wanted to learn more about our family's history and family tree. She kept our family's stories and memories alive with a lasting impact on the generations to come. Blanch loved her sales, going to craft fairs, playing bingo and watching movies. She was able to spend the remaining years of her life in the comfort of her apartment surrounded by her friends.
