In Fond Memory of Bruno Santana Jr.
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Bruno Santana Jr., who peacefully journeyed home to our Lord, enveloped in the love of his family, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in his cherished town of McAllen, Texas. Bruno's life, born into the earth on October 7, 1949, in Mission, Texas, was a testament to resilience, devotion, and unwavering love for his kin, always putting family above all else, as he learned from his parents, Celia Cerda and Bruno Santana Sr.
From a tender age, Bruno exemplified the spirit of perseverance and diligence, migrating north alongside his family to toil in the fields, shaping his strong work ethic and tenacity. Yet amidst the challenges, he found joy in the rhythms of Tejano music, his heart finding solace in the dance and melodies that echoed the essence of his heritage.
Bruno was a man of many passions, finding delight in the sizzle of barbeque, the crisp taste of a cold beer by the fire, and the excitement of rooster fights, reveling in the vibrant energy of life, including the mischievous "Pendejadas" that brought laughter to his days.
Known affectionately as a "Catrin," Bruno exuded charm and style, a dapper gentleman who captured the hearts of many with his refined presence. His love for Clint Eastwood movies spoke volumes of his rugged yet tender nature, embodying the essence of a true cowboy in his own right.
But above all, Bruno's greatest pride and joy lay in his role as a father and grandfather, his love radiating through the lives of his seven devoted children – Mauricio Jose Santana, Yvonne de la Garza, Yvette Cerda Ortega, Eleazar Santana, Roberto Ignacio Santana, Adriana Santana, and Bruno Marin Santana – and his 20+ cherished grandchildren, who were his pillars of strength and the source of his boundless happiness.
Bruno was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Linda Ochoa Santana, his son, Moises Santana, and his parents, marking the passing of cherished souls who now await him in the embrace of eternity.
As we gather to honor Bruno's life, let us remember him not with tears, but with the echoes of laughter and the warmth of cherished memories. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Flores Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Abram, Texas, followed by interment at San Jose Cemetery in Abram, Texas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the compassionate hands of Flores Funeral Home of Mission.
In the tapestry of life, Bruno Santana Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and indomitable spirit, forever etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in eternal peace, dear Bruno, knowing that your love will continue to guide us through the journey ahead.
