Bryan Lusk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMillan-Small Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 6, 2025.
Bryan Phillip Lusk, 65, passed away on March 4, 2025 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center
after courageously battling an illness.
Bryan was born in Williamson, West Virginia on October 4, 1959 to Phyllis Ann Surber Lusk.
He spent his childhood in Williamson, playing sports and enjoying summers with his uncle,
Robert D. Calfee, who was like a brother to him, and grandparents Robert Calfee and Dorothy
Copely Surber Calfee. Bryan's family moved to Grundy, Virginia the summer before Bryan
began the fifth grade. Bryan would go on to play varsity basketball and baseball for Grundy
High School, graduating in 1977.
After attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee for two years, Bryan
transferred to Bluefield College, where he met the love of his life, Teresa Ellen Beverly. Bryan
and Teresa married in 1980, and, in 1986, they welcomed their first and only child, Holly
Michelle Lusk. In 1989, the Lusks relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, where Bryan earned a
Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Tennessee, graduating in 1994. After
graduating from the University of Tennessee, Bryan began a successful career in architecture in
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Bryan was proud to have designed many of the oceanfront hotels
along the Grand Strand, as well as several Horry County school buildings.
Bryan was a loving and devoted Christian father and husband. He enjoyed living at the beach
and was an avid golfer, even pursuing a chance at participating in the 2011 U.S. Open. Bryan
had a wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook on life, always encouraging others "not to
sweat the small stuff." Bryan had a knack for inventing his own silly phrases and kept his family
and friends laughing with his wit and sarcasm. He also loved spending time in one of his
favorite places, Breaks Interstate Park, in the heart of the mountains of Southwest Virginia.
Bryan will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Bryan is survived by: wife, Teresa Ellen Beverly Lusk of Myrtle Beach; and daughter, Holly
Michelle Lusk of Myrtle Beach. Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis Ann Surber
Lusk and Donald Justice Lusk.
In lieu of a memorial service, Bryan's family asks that you share any fond memories you have of
Bryan.
