NORMAL ~ Bryan Robert Poole, 70, of Normal, shed his earthly pain and gracefully passed at 9:41 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024 at OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Born July 6, 1953 in Shelbyville, Illinois to Robert E. and Lorena (Cowell) Poole, he married Mary Hebel on May 28, 1977 in Bloomington. They later divorced, but shared decades of wonderful adventures and memories together and remained lifelong friends.
Surviving are one daughter, Sarah (Lee and Haley Batcheller) Poole of Anamosa, Iowa; three grandchildren, Gianna and Ezra of Anamosa, Iowa and Arianna of Bloomington, and two sisters, Sandra (Bill Fisher) of Tiskilwa and Phyllis Knudsen of Orville, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gary Wooley, and an aunt, Ruth Overton, who was very special to him.
Bryan worked as a delivery driver for Batesville Casket Company for close to 40 years before retiring in 2015. His coworkers were his extended family and their support and love for him was something he always cherished.
An avid outdoorsman, Bryan enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and boating. He found the most joy in his time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Today and forever he flies free, at peace and forgiven.
His memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Wish Bone Canine Rescue, 1824 West Hovey Avenue, Normal, Illinois 61761.
